Marking 50 Years for Genie and the Launch of Genie 360 Support
Marking 50 years in the aerial work platform industry, and the launch of its innovative Genie 360 Support initiative, more than 150 customers from around Australia attended the spectacular annual Genie Customer Appreciation Night in early May.
Held at the Gold Coast’s eclectic Miami Marketta, guests were treated to an extensive menu of street food delights, live bands and unfettered access to members of the Genie global leadership team including Matt Fearon, Genie President, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) and Jim Barr, Genie Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, Terex AWP.
Notwithstanding the heavyweight corporate line-up, a one-of-a-kind Genie scissor lift, stole the show. A Genie 50th year initiative, a 10-year old Genie GS™-4390 RT scissor lift, painted in celebratory gold, was rebuilt by a large number of the Genie team, led by Mitch Ely, Genie National Operations Manager, Terex AWP.
“Genie 360 Support is the foundation of our new 3-year plan. The plan will be successful only if it’s embraced by our customers. The big first step in the plan was to launch Genie 360 Support to our customers by means of the Customer Appreciation Night, and it will then follow through at other industry events,” said Brad Lawrence, Genie General Manager Australia, Terex AWP.
Fearon, who addressed the assembled guests at the appreciation night, said, “Our success includes operations in 80 countries and on 6 continents, which isn’t bad for a small operation that started in Seattle, Washington. When we reflect on the success of Genie, it’s been about listening to customers and having outstanding aftermarket support, which is being carried on in Australia by the Genie 360 Support program. It’s also been about continuous improvement. It’s been successful for 50 years, and we are already looking forward to what we will accomplish in the next 50.”
Looking ahead, Fearon advised customers of Genie to expect the development of more innovative products to carry on and that the global AWP leader will continue to support them staunchly. “It’s that simple, but we will evolve and continue to be leaders in this industry,” said Fearon.
“This gold-painted beauty, which comes with a highly-charged 4.4 litre V8 engine, helped to display the full thrust of Genie 360 Support, the end-to-end customer solution, to the hundreds of guests who attended the appreciation night,”

The Annual Genie Customer Night, held at Gold Coast’s eclectic Miami Marketta last week, proved a spectacular success.
Around 200 customers were treated to the Marketta’s street food delights – and Genie brought the big guns with Matt Fearon, President of Telex AWP, Jim Barr Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific – Terex AWP and Brad Lawrence, General Manager Terex AWP Australia delivering the Genie value proposition for 2016 and beyond.
Notwithstanding the heavyweight speaking line-up, a souped-up Genie Scissor Lift proved the event’s star turn. A Genie 50th Year initiative, the ultimate GS4390RT Scissor lift has been rebuilt by the Genie 360 Support team across Australia, with a 4.4 litre V8 engine and it helped to display the full thrust of Genie 360 Support, the ground-breaking end-to-end customer solution. Against the backdrop of the V8 scissor, National Operations Manager Mitch Ely delivered a lively synopsis of Genie 360 Support.
